HISTORY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE: THE ANGLOSAXONS

Link to the video

Old English was the language spoken by the Anglo-Saxons. It is very diffrent to today´s English (Contemporanean English). If a Spanish person reads a text in Old Spanish, he or she could understand most of it, but if an English person reads a text in Old English, very little could be understood.

Why has English changed more than Spanish throughout the centuries? Because of the many invasions England had: Vikings, Danish, Normans...

To tell you the truth, I've never been to Australia. But I'd love to! It's so far, isn't it? So lte's enjoy this video and "travel" a bit with this video to this country. Pay attention to the accent: Australian-English sounds quite similar to British-English, (compared to American-English) with one deatil: Australians tend to pronounce diphthong /eI/ as /aI/. Pay attention how they pronounce words like "day", "take".

Visiting New York with an expert!!

We all would love to vist New York some time, who wouldn’t? So, if you don’t have the chance to do it so far, have a look at this video below and visit New York, but in a different way, not the typical “cultural” boring tour, but with a public relations of the hotel chain Intercontinental Resorts. He´ll show some interesting places that do not appear in the books or tourist brochures. Do it and make two lists of the places he shows you: “cultural- interest” places, and the non-so-cultural, let’s say, “commercial” ones, but not less interesting.
If you ever have visited NY, maybe you can give us some more tips. Is there an interesting place in NY that nobody knowns and that you could recommend here? Any suggestions welcome in “comentarios”. You can include videos and photos.
